There is a post on Muskies First about lake Bemidji stocking being halted due to budget cuts. Anyone know of or heard any truth to this?

looks like the original poster there was mistaken, quite an entertaining thread to read though. i'm sure if they had to drop lakes from the stocking list Bemidji wouldn't be the first one.

Not even sure how a rumor like that got started. At a time when MN is looking to expand the muskie fishing opportunities, they're surely not going to drop the program on such a successful lake! Truth is, there is often a surplus of fingerlings at our hatcheries with nowhere to go. A friend of mine did call the DNR office up there, and was reassured this was just a rumor.

Well that is good to hear, one of the many great sucess stories in musky stocking.
As far as the post being entertaining, I actually find it disturbing. What I find disturbing is how many people detest MI. Musky fishing is growing but MI is decreasing, who will be there to help the stocking efforts and be vigilant if MI isn't there?

Well that's a definite trend on that particular website, where the MI antis are always ready to pounce. I personally don't think anyone on that website gives a rip about the Minnesota Musky program or MI except when it comes to making money off of us with their MAC tournament circuit, which failed miserably after one year.
The people that run the site are in a great position to support MN on the issues (since they all come over here and fish) and they ALWAYS fail to step up and support us when we need it.
